William L. Shelton
Graduate of University of Iowa Law School. Admitted to the Iowa Bar. Member of Iowa State Bar Association. Member of Probate, Trusts and Estate Planning Law, Elder Law, Family Law, and General Practice Sections of the Iowa Bar Association. Admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court and the U.S. District Court, Northern and Southern Districts of Iowa. Past member of California Bar Association and California Trial Lawyers Association. Past Member of Board of Governors of Iowa State Bar Association and Iowa Trial Lawyers Association.
Bill Shelton started practicing law in Chariton in 1966. He graduated from the University of Iowa Law School and then spent four years practicing law in California before returning to his hometown of Chariton. Bill and his wife Barbara have seven children – Doug, Karen, Margo, Becky, Melissa, Kyle, and Brandon.
R. William Petersen
Graduate of Creighton University Law School in Omaha, Nebraska. Admitted to the Iowa Bar in 1976. Member of the Iowa State Bar Association. Admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court.
R. William Petersen joined the firm as an attorney in 1980.
He is originally from Traer, Iowa and resides in Chariton.

Brandon J. Shelton joined the firm as an attorney in 2006. He is the son of Bill and Barbara Shelton and resides in Chariton.
